DETOXING IN A CHEMICAL WORLD

Natural Strategies to reduce environmental toxins and stressors

Our world today is filled with toxins from pollution in the air to preservatives in our foods. In addition to all of the advancements that have improved our comfort and increased our productivity, we are now more than ever faced with constant demands for our attention and the stress of choosing how to spend our time. We are bombarded with technology including social media and news from all over the world that serves to unify us and at the same time leave us feeling fearful and alone.

How do we find balance between connecting and disconnecting… between consuming and detoxing…

Here are some strategies to cleans your body and mind naturally

1. Look out for signs of toxic overload including fatigue, sinus congestion, excess mucus, sore throat, skin rashes, low-level fever, frequent colds, obesity, depression, irritability, and various aches and pains.

If symptoms persist, consider seeking a check up from your medical doctor to rule out problems in the liver, kidneys, colon, lungs, skin, blood, and lymphatic system.

2. Explore the foods that work best for your body by doing a food sensitivity screening or eliminating or reducing common inflammatory foods such as processed sugar, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, gluten, lactose and other toxins.

Seeking the assistance of a functional medicine doctor or nutritionist may be supportive in determining your unique dietary needs.

3. Plan time to connect to your body through yoga, meditation, massage, acupuncture, or other forms of exercise.

Yoga exercises such as twists (particularly right to left) are known to stimulate the ascending and descending colon to support healthy elimination of waste from the body.

Meditation serves the purpose of helping us integrate experiences and emotions and supports a more regulated state of mind.

Acupuncture and massage are avenues to support areas of stagnation in the body where stress get stored.

4. Take a bath.

Epsom salt baths have been known to reduce muscle tension and promote healthy sleep.

Ion foot baths use the process of ionic osmosis (the same process as in Peritoneal Dialysis) to support your organs in the natural process of eliminating toxins when they are in toxic overload.
