Here are some helpful tips for you and your family to find joy in the holidays no matter where you are:
1. Decorate indoors and outdoors
Put up Christmas lights and walk around your neighborhood with some hot apple cider or hot cocoa to enjoy the Christmas Cheer
2. Have a virtual dinner
Bake your favorite holiday treats and reach out to friends and family over video chat to eat together and share memories of Christmases past
3. Have a caroling party from a distance
Download your favorite Christmas songs and record your family singing along. You can send this fun surprise to your family or friends over voicemail or even email. Live close by to neighbors who enjoy sing alongs. Set up a caroling event “flash mob” style and at a certain time during your holiday break join your neighbors in singing carols out your window or stepping onto the front porch (at a safe distance of course)
4. Have a cookie baking contest
Take “Pinterest worthy” photos to share with friends and family members. Not great at cookie decorating. Not a problem. I don’t know about you but personally some of my favorite memories and best laughs come from botched decorations… ”nailed it”
5. Encourage Donations to local charities
Want to encourage your children to learn the value of generosity this holiday season. Research different charities online and pick your favorites to give a Christmas gift to.
As one of my all time favorite Christmas movies reminds us…
“Maybe Christmas (he thought) doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more.” — The Grinch
