POSITIVE DISCIPLINE: SPRING FORWARD INTO HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

February 5, 2024by Lauren0

Thank you to all who participated in the Positive Discipline: New Beginnings workshop series! Your courage to be vulnerable with other parents and encourage one another truly enriched the group.

Spring is coming! In this season of budding growth, take some time to think about the family traditions that will keep your family joy blooming. It is easy to remember to devote time to family during times of high conflict because the pressure is on. It is a lot harder to maintain this sacred family time when family life is peaceful.

Just like flowers, our family relationships need water consistently to grow.

If you water them too much at once they will wilt, but if you only water them once in a while, they will not retain the water.

I have a confession to make, I do not have a green thumb! If you tend to over water your plants like I do then listen close…

It is not the quantity of time but the quality of time that matters.

Set up daily rituals like giving your children a hug (or a fist bump…you know what I am talking about parents of boys) before school and greeting them at the end of the day by asking them the best and worst thing that happened ( A Rose and a Thorn). Not only will this keep your relationship with your child alive, but it will teach them that no topic is off limits because you value their highs and lows equally.
